Kayak Fishing multi-day trips-

Sold out for 2012

This is it people. A true remote Alaska kayak fishing & camping experience. Join us in 2012 for a multi-day trip in the Misty Fjords National Wilderness, operating under USFS Wilderness Permit. This is an excellent area to get away from it all, and get back to what you love to do. Kayaking, fishing, crabbing, exploring, relaxing, eating fresh seafood you just caught, and hanging with like minded friends is what these trips are all about. We've chosen this specific location due to its excellent variety. Misty Fjords Kayak Fishing

After a fifty mile boat ride from Ketchikan to the Misty Fjords Wilderness, we'll set up base camp on one of the rainforest islands just offshore. Excellent sandy beaches give easy access to the fishing grounds surrounding the islands. Untouched bottom fishing lies just offshore, with crazy action on halibut, lingcod, yelloweye, and a variety of other rockfish. In close to the islands, the coho salmon sometimes school up in a frenzied mass of mayhem that will leave you feeling like a little kid in a candy store.

In the other direction, a ten minute paddle will take you to the mainland, where fresh water streams provide our drinking water, and tasty dungeness crabs lurk in the brackish filled coves. Check the crab pots while you're there, and keep an eye on shore for bears.

These trips are about much more than fishing. We'll also spend one full day drifting with the current up Very Inlet. This is an amazing area where you'll see streams packed with pink salmon, tons of bear sign (and a good chance for seeing them), and untouched land where we'll surely be the only trespassers. This is a really neat experience, and there's even a chance for riding some tidal rapids on the way in and out.

Seals and sea lions are all over the place, and whales are not uncommon. You should see a lot of bald eagles. There are also a lot of brown and black bears in the area, though none on the islands where we camp.

Daylight hours are long so you'll have time for a variety of activities in a single day. Designated wilderness surrounds the area, with dense rainforest, rocky and sandy beaches, and many small islands along the shoreline. This is an outdoor paradise, offering a kayaking experience you just can't get anywhere else. When your arms are sore from pulling on fish, you can beach comb, shoot some photos, hike around, pull some crab pots, or take a nap. Each night we'll cook a fresh seafood dinner from whatever we caught that day. No freeze dried meals here! We have an excellent full time camp chef/coordinator that will be taking care of all your camp needs. All meals are provided and cooked for you.

Due to our remoteness, the fishing is almost all catch, photo, and release, except what we keep to eat. We'll show you how to hook into everything out there, and also the best techniques for a successful release. We fish deep, in the 200 to 300 ft. range for the bottom fish, while the salmon are shallow and in closer to shore.

If you're looking for something more than the ordinary, this is the trip for you. Great fishing, good chances for paddling with whales and seeing bears, a remote setting, a variety of water, and day after day to do as you please make this a one of a kind trip. We look forward to you joining us in 2012!
