Kayak Fishing the Inside Passage-
As seen on Discovery Channel & National Geographic Channel
Fishing
License - Tour Rates
Kayak Fishing is one of the fastest growing sports in the country, and Alaska is where it all began. We're proud to offer this exciting alternative to the power boat trolling. We are Alaska's original kayak fishing tour operation, and though the imitators have arrived, our kayak fishing tour is still unmatched. Whether you're an experienced kayak angler, or trying kayak fishing for the first time, join us for an exciting day you won't forget. All equipment, personal guide, and transportation is provided.
After
picking you up from your cruise ship or hotel, we'll leave the crowds behind and head north of town
about 15 miles. Our facility is located in Knudson Cove Marina,
and after donning rain gear and a short safety lesson, you'll board
your kayak and paddle a short distance to a group of several uninhabited
rainforest islands. We'll paddle
and
fish around
these
islands, as well as view an eagle's nest up close. There
are
great
amounts
of
bald eagles and other wildlife that you can see.
The Tongass National Forest, the largest National Forest in the U.S.,
surrounds all the fishing area.
The
kayak fishing you'll do is very hands on. You won't stare blankly
at a
rod sitting in a rod holder like the power boaters do. You won't smell
fumes or fight for elbow room. You won't take turns with a fishing rod. You'll find kayak fishing a far more
exciting
approach. You'll be as close to the action as you can be. We're fortunate
in Ketchikan to have such great fishing right next to shore. As soon
as
you're on the water you're on the fish. This makes kayak fishing a perfect
fit. The trips are not overly strenuous, and focus on enjoying whats
around you
to the fullest.
Our guides are professional kayak anglers, and they'll show you the techniques that will get your rod bent, and heart racing, as you fish for a variety of species including salmon, flounder, rockfish, and halibut.
The Details -
We only use extremely
stable sit-on-top kayaks, which are very easy to get in and out of.
Only
single kayaks are used. There is no minimum age limit, but you must
be capable
of paddling your own kayak. This is generally age 12 and up. We don't
run tours with large groups, and you will not be picked up in a bus and
herded like cattle. Its good to have some experience with fishing or kayaking for this tour.

Fishing License
We can issue you a fishing license on the spot or you
can get one online in advance at the Alaska
Fish and Game site. It is preferred to already have your license
when you get here so we don't waste time with paperwork and can get
right to the fun. You can print your own fishing license online
through the link above. Participants age 16 and over are required to
have a license,
and
they are
currently
$20 for
a one day license. You do not need a king salmon stamp unless you are specifically targeting king salmon and intend to keep them.
